At the end of chapter 296, right before Neliel reverts back to her chibi form, for whatever reason, she mentioned she wasn't going to kill Nnoit. I began to wonder why;
...was it because her morals are similar to Ichigo's: not killing anyone, even if they tried to kill you?
...Was it because she knew she wasn't going to be reverting back to her chibi self? (I doubt this though, since she looked pretty shocked when she changed back.)
...or maybe because she knew leaving him alive was pretty much worse than death in his case. (He lost against her before, and asked her to kill him; she didn't and he nearly killed her for it.)
Then I got inspired and felt like drawing it out. I chose the last option because it makes sense: (in my mind at least; artistic liberties~!) For whatever reason, she didn't want to kill him, and chose an option that could have a greater negative impact without actually finishing him off.
With that rant out of the way; I'd like to say I freaking LOVE the way Neliel came out here~! I didn't use any references (I can't learn/get better that way anyway) so she's probably slightly off; since the costumes change slightly with the release. And when I first sketched this out, Nnoit in the fourth panel looked really BAD, but it came out pretty good when I actually refined it.
His expression should probably be more defiant/angry, but I was originally going for him opening his eyes. (Say some time elapsed between the time Neliel spoke and he's awakening. Pretend she beat him into unconsciousness and escaped with Ichigo and Co. And er...don't figure what's-his-name into the equation (the guy who was holding Orihime captive), I kinda wrote him out of this. Whoops.)
You can ignore the horridness of the third panel though, since I suck at drawing unconscious, bloody people. And, er...it might look like Nnoit's missing his arms in the this panel, he's not though. I think his arms were all bloody so I tried for that effect; but since the panel ended like that, uh it kind of looks like he has no arms, at all. whoops.
I discovered that this run-down, expired trial of opencanvas indeed does have tones and went a little tone happy here; sorry 'bout that.
There are four parts to this, since I'm still using my expired OC trial, I can't save the full file and can only print-screen what can fit on the screen. Since the original file was like 500 x 1000 or some such, it obviously couldn't all fit. So there'll be two parts per page. I'm planning on two pages, so that makes four parts total.
I'll have the second part of this page up tomorrow, perhaps tonight once I finish it. Then I'll get to work on the second page. (The second page pretty much focuses on Ichigo and Co. But it's part of this (sad attempt at manga-style art.)
OH YEAH, I HAVE SPACING ISSUES WITH THOSE FREAKING BOXES. OPENCANVAS HAS NO 'BOX' TOOL, SO I HAD TO USE THE LINE TOOL. AND DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT MAKES STRAIGHT LINES, I STILL MAKE THEM SLANTED. GO FIGURE.
